CORTLAND, Ohio - A public open house and dedication ceremony will be held at Trumbull County’s new Agriculture and Family Education Center April 11. The center is located at 540 W. Main St., Cortland.
The open house will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with a dedication program scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
All-in-one. Five agencies are now located in the new center. These include The Ohio State University Extension, USDA Farm Service Agency, Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and ODNR Soil Scientists.
With all these agencies in one location, Trumbull County residents will find it easier to use the various services they provide.
“Completion of this new center is the realization of a longtime dream for Trumbull County,” according to John Parker, chairman of the committee working with the county commissioners to plan and build the facility.
“With the funding and cooperation of the commissioners and donation of a beautiful site by the Delphi Automotive Corporation, we now have one of the finest facility of its kind in Ohio,” Parker added.
Raising funds. With the involvement of several groups and individuals, the committee raised over $22,000 to buy tables, chairs and other equipment for the areas used jointly by all agencies. This saved scarce public funds and provided adequate furnishings for these areas of the building.
Included in the dedication program will be comments by the county commissioners, Delphi Corporation representatives, state officials, a member of the committee and presentations of state and national flags.
