HARRISBURG, Pa. – The first Pennsylvania Elk Outdoor Expo will be held Sept. 29-30, during the most spectacular time for elk watching within the 835-square-mile elk range in northcentral Pennsylvania.
The Northwest Pennsylvania’s Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau is the lead sponsor of the festival and several events throughout the region during expo weekend.
What’s on tap. Events scheduled throughout the area to date include: an exhibit and demonstration area; an elk bugling contest; an elk silhouette hunt; an invitational Enduro Cart Race; street dances; a pig roast and chicken barbecue; music; food; crafts; and tours to view elk and other wildlife.
A “Kid’s Tent” also is planned with specific exhibits and programs designed to entertain and educate.
The visitors bureau in Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Elk, Forest and Jefferson counties, is seeking vendors and will advertise and promote the event nationally and internationally to Great Britain and Canada.
Vendor space remains. Remaining vendor space at the expo is limited. Forms for interested vendors can be downloaded from the visitors’ bureau Web site (www.pagreatoutdoors.com). Volunteers also are being encouraged to submit an application, which is available on the Web site as well.
