UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The proposed new Food Sciences Building at the University Park campus has abeen released for design.
Gary Schultz, senior vice president for finance and business/treasurer, said the $25.3 million project will replace the existing food sciences facilities in Borland Lab, allowing Penn State to continue to be one of the premiere institutions for food research in the nation by creating improved state-of-the-art labs.
State funding will provide $15.5 million toward construction costs and $3.3 million for furnishings and fixed equipment.
Ongoing university fund-raising efforts have also garnered nearly $5 million in private gifts from corporations and individuals for the project.
