The Damascus Ruritan Club and community members are extremely concerned about the safety of the one-lane bridge located on Hartley Road between Shelton and Slater roads in Butler Township, Columbiana County.
There are more homes being built on Hartley Road, making for more traffic that travels that area every day. There have been serious accidents at this site in the past.
We are concerned since more traffic is using this road daily, that there is the possibility of two vehicles trying to go through this bridge at the same time, causing death and/or serious injury.
With the possibility of poor visibility created by heavy, driving rains or snowstorms, or fog, this is a very dangerous situation – particularly for those who are not familiar with the road.
We are asking the Columbiana County engineer and Butler Township trustees to act on making this area safer before a serious accident happens again.
