Moline Tractor and Plow Co. has grand opening

MOLINE, Ill. – The grand opening for Moline Tractor and Plow Co., the latest addition to the John Deere Commons in downtown Moline, Ill., will be held Aug. 10-11.

The Moline Tractor and Plow Co. is the living history exhibit of the John Deere Collectors Center – a membership association for enthusiasts interested in the nostalgia and legacy of John Deere and the collection of early John Deere tractors, equipment and memorabilia.

The facility replicates a 1950s-era John Deere dealership. The building that will house the Moline Tractor and Plow Co., located at 17th Street and River Drive, is currently under restoration and is slated for completion by early July. Activities will begin soon after completion.

The August celebration will coincide with the John Deere Collectors Center second annual “All Green” antique auction. In addition, the grand opening celebration will replicate a John Deere Day from the late 1950s, including an antique tractor show, an old-fashioned barbecue, clowns and musical entertainment.

The Moline Tractor and Plow Co. will consist of five major departments – a showroom with vintage tractors on display, an over-the-counter parts department, an interactive restoration area, an open display center showcasing tractors and implements, and a specialty retail shop. Operating as a clearinghouse of information, the John Deere Collectors Center will provide access to a variety of information, including a library of books and literature on John Deere tractors, equipment, and parts. An on-site researcher will also be available to access historical information for collectors center members.

The dealership’s services will help collectors obtain parts and information that can be difficult to find, and will assist with restoration questions.

John Deere enthusiasts who sign up for John Deere Collectors Center membership gain access to services not available to the general public. Three membership levels exist, each with different benefits. Members will also receive a subscription to the center’s monthly “John Deere Tradition” magazine.
