REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio – Emerald Ash Borer, a destructive exotic insect from Asia, has been discovered in ash trees in western Erie County, according to Ohio Department of Agriculture officials.
Infestation. Department surveyors have begun work to determine the extent of the infestation.
Officials discovered the ash tree-killing pest in two detection trees, which were established earlier in the year for survey purposes.
Two additional infested trees were identified within the surrounding area, close to the intersection of state Route 4 and Interstate 80/90. The infested trees are located in Margaretta, Groton, and Oxford townships.
