A Youth Dairy Day event is being offered this summer by Penn State Extension. All youth interested in the dairy industry will not want to miss this fun, educational day. The day will be packed with hands on learning sessions focused on dairy production and herd management. The event is open to any youth ages 5-18. Participants will split into four groups by age and rotate to different learning stations throughout the day.
Topics will include:
Obstetrics – How to handle a difficult calving properly
Feed Commodities – Identification and relative feed values
Udder Health / Dissection – Dissect an udder and learn about how mastitis occurs
Differentiating Dairy Foods – Sample different dairy food samples and discuss the differences
Farm Safety
