Have you ever thought you would like to be part of a Tai Ji class like the ones you have seen on TV or in the movies? You know, the classes held outdoors where everyone is moving to a gentle exercise routine in the morning light. Well, your opportunity to participate in just such a class has arrived in Salem, courtesy of your Salem Public Library. The library has arranged for Master Doug Nybell of Crystal Dragon Family Martial Arts Center (of Columbiana, Ohio) to provide instruction for the 8-week course that will take place on Wednesday mornings, June 15-August 3, 2016 from 9-10 a.m. in Salem’s Centennial Park near pavilion #1. Online registration at www.salem.lib.oh.us (or by calling the library at 330-332-0042) is required for each of the classes that are open to the public and free of cost to attend.
Qigong exercises are designed to promote health and relaxation through a series of gentle, non-impact, flowing movements. The exercises are done standing up so loose-fitting clothing and comfortable athletic shoes are all you need to participate. The classes are progressive so it is recommended you plan to attend all 8 classes. At the end of 8 weeks the participant will have a good foundation for a daily practice as well as for further study of advanced forms.
The library welcomes you to bring your friends to learn these centuries-old healthful exercises. For more information please call the library at 330-332-0042.
