Lamppost Farm, pastured poultry producers for 9 years, is hosting a two-day, hands-on workshop in the production of pastured poultry.
Thursday: Poultry Production from chick to full-size chicken. Discussions/experiences include setting up chick brooder & building field pens, poultry feed mixing, poultry nutrition, legal issues of on-farm processing and sales. Guest speaker: Casey Rogers from Fertrell will share about her field trials and lend expertise on poultry nutrition.
Friday: Poultry Processing on the farm. Experience and learn how to slaughter and process chickens for sale and personal consumption. Mike Badger of Badger Meadows Farm and President of APPPA will be leading us. Guest chefs will talk dealing with restaurant sales…gourmet lunch of chicken, of course, will be provided too!
Come for one ($100) or both ($150) days. $50 discount for APPPA (American Pastured Poultry Producers Assoc.) or PASA (Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture) members. Thursday lunch is not included. Friday will conclude with a late lunch/early chef prepared gourmet dinner as a celebration of our time together.
