Readers’ responses continue to trickle in on Item No. 674, the hog handler which we unveiled last week.
Our thanks to the following readers who also correctly identified the item: C.J. Strausbaugh, Glenmont, Ohio; Richard Heidl, Sandusky, Ohio; James Clayton, Waynesburg, Pa.; Judy Kiefl, Uniontown, Ohio; and Robert Bailey.
Mr. Bailey adds, “Paul Meyer provided a ‘pig snout holder’ for us to put on display at our hardware, Vermilion Hardware, Vermilion, Ohio. We have many home and farm items on display and we were glad to add this one.
“He also provided us with several stories of when he used to use it!”
The mailbag is bare, however, when it comes to Item No. 675, first shown last week. Loren Roper, a blacksmith in Duncan Falls, Ohio, shares the tool with us and wonders if anyone knows what the unusual item might be used for.
