Hello from Hazard!
One more reader sent a correct response to Item No. 839, the corn shock binder that we previously unveiled. Many thanks to Calvin L. Miller of Chesterhill, Ohio, for writing in. He uses one every year, and sure knew what it was when he saw it in our pages!
Are you kidding me? No one — zip, nada — has hazard-ed a guess on Item No. 840. We were really hoping our sharp readers would identify it, because owner Bob Baumgartner of Pandora, Ohio, doesn’t know how it was used.
We’ll show it one last time this week, but also add a new item. Can’t anyone at least make up something good? (But please tell us if you’re inventing a creative use!)

Item No. 841 is a leftover from our stash of items from Les Howell of Beach City, Ohio. I guess I’m taking pity on you after the mystery item, because I think quite a few of you will recognize this tool.
Know how it was used? Write to: Hazard a Guess, P.O. Box 38, Salem, OH 44460; or via e-mail to: editorial@farmanddairy.com. Please include your name, hometown, state for proper identification.
The last item looks like a cheese cutter.
You’re right!
