NORTH JACKSON, Ohio — The Jackson-Milton Livestock Club took first place with its float in the North Jackson Fourth of July parade.
Members met recently to review community service projects for the year, the club’s picnic and showmanship clinic. Several members also attended 4-H camp this summer.
Members also discussed their livestock projects and reviewed fair show and sale dates and times.
CHARDON, Ohio — The Breeders and Feeders met July 20 at Chips Club House in Chardon. The members had a recreation day and enjoyed putt-putt golfing.
During the business meeting, members voted for king and queen, talked about entry form deadlines, and discussed marketing livestock projects at the fair sale Aug. 30.
Members also reviewed the skillathon materials and practiced the competition.
Joe Collum gave a report on the proper temperature on cooking meats.
Beef project members will also meet for hoof trimming. Beef members’ picnic will be Aug. 16 at the Natural Resources building at the fairgrounds. The picnic will be put on by beef coordinator Jim Timmons.
AMHERST, Ohio — The Brownhelm Perfections and BB’s 4-H club met recently to review fair plans.
It was discussed that only straw can be used at the fair in all cages. The club needs 2-3 members to volunteer to help with building watch Aug. 23 from 2-4 p.m. at the fairgrounds.
The spaghetti dinner benefit for Katie O’Brien is Aug. 10 at the Amherst Eagles Club from 12-4 p.m. The cost of the dinner is a donation.
The Health and Safety Skit Team consisting of Madeline Ott, Ben Roberts and Bradley Thrasher competed at the state fair.
After the meeting the club had an ice cream party sponsored by Easter Seals for its contribution to Easter Seals Balloon Days.
The next meeting is a family picnic Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. at Mill Hollow.
