UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — New and beginning dairy producers in Pennsylvania can learn about the many resources available to them through the Pennsylvania Center for Farm Transitions at the next Lunchtime Series for New and Beginning Dairy Producers program offered via the Web, Aug. 27 from noon to 1 p.m.

Dennis Hall will present “The Pennsylvania Center for Farm Transitions: An Overview” and Brad Hilty of Penn State Dairy Alliance will discuss the many educational opportunities available to producers through Penn State.
Presented by Penn State Dairy Alliance, the new Web-based training program saves dairy owners and managers time and money by offering online training at no charge.
The series is designed for the dairy producer who is new to the industry, has recently completed a management transition and is a new owner, or is simply less experienced.
“The purpose of the series is to provide these new and beginning producers a convenient way to access information that will help them be successful in a challenging industry,” explained program coordinator Lisa Holden, associate professor of dairy and animal science.

Additional program dates in the series are: Sept. 24, Oct. 29, Nov. 26, and Dec. 17.
Each session will explore a new topic of interest to new and beginning dairy producers.
The training is offered in real-time, via the Web. Participants just need a phone and a computer with high-speed Internet connection to access the Web site that will be used for the training.

There is no charge to participate, but pre-registration is required for each session by calling the Dairy Alliance office, 888-373-7232, by noon on the Monday prior to the session.
