NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The Central West 4-H and FFA District Dairy show was held at the Lawrence County fairgrounds July 21.
Dwight Stoltzfus of Berlin, Pa., judged the Ayrshire, Holstein, Red and White and Milking Shorthorn entries. Victoria Baker of Scottdale, Pa., judged the Jersey, Swiss and Guernsey entries. There were 129 head of cattle exhibited.
Ayrshire
Lauren Martin topped the Ayrshire show with her senior 2-year-old, Wentworth Farm FM Kandy.
Kaitlin Martin showed the reserve champion animal, Martinholm Wilton Wren. The summer yearling also took the Best Owned and Bred award. Martinholm Wilton Wren was the junior champion, as well.
Lindsey Beatty took reserve junior champion honors with Day Dreamer Laro Lily, a spring calf.
Kaitlin Martin also showed the reserve senior champion, Martinholm Wilton Samantha, a 4-year-old.
Brown Swiss
Breezy Dale Opie was grand champion of the Brown Swiss show. The senior 3-year-old was shown by Jaclyn Thompson.
Richard Henry showed the reserve champion, 4-year-old Minor Acres Moose Marcy.
The junior champion came from the fall calf division. Adam Hammerschmidt showed the winning junior, Minor Acres Sydney Flashbac.
The reserve junior champion was a winter calf, Hoodstead Mack Houdini, shown by Jaclyn Thompson.
The Best Owned and Bred animal was Four Seasons Coll Becky, a dry cow 2 years and over shown by Andrew Tuzikow.
Guernsey
In the Guernsey show, Matthew Aiken showed the grand champion entry, Yellow Creek Poker Tami from the 6 years and older class.
Reserve champion went to senior 3-year-old Trotacre Storm Annie, shown by Lena Ann Aiken.
The junior champion was Trotacre Logic Chloe, a winter yearling shown by Andrew Liggett.
The reserve junior champion was Trotacre Altanic Lou Ann-ET. Bethany Trotter exhibited the spring calf.
Matthew Aiken showed the Best Owned and Bred entry, senior 2-year-old Willow Brook Lewis Teri.
Holstein
Amoore Dundee Kit Kat claimed the top spot in the Holstein show. The junior 3-year-old was shown by Travis Moore and also took the Best Owned and Bred banner.
The reserve champion spot went to Austin Martin with senior 2-year-old Martinholm AA Mattie Ann.
Lindsey Beatty showed the junior champion, Plum Line Eclipse Regina from the winter yearling division.
A spring calf, Red-Springs Damion Jewel, exhibited by Justin Kennedy earned the reserve junior champion title.
Jersey
Lindsay McKissick took the grand champion banner in the Jersey show with her 4-year-old entry, Scottown Deluxe Jelly Bean. The animal also won the Best Owned and Bred award.
The reserve champion spot went to Kayla Beatty and junior 2-year-old Day Dreamer Remake Desarai.
Scottown Wait Pringle, a winter yearling shown by Emily McKissick, was the junior champion.
The reserve junior champion was a winter calf, Van De Just Wait a Minute. Lucas Riley exhibited the entry.
Milking Shorthorn
William Speer showed the grand champion Milking Shorthorn. Moneymakers Frosty, a spring yearling, was also the junior champion.
Sue Kourt Spooker, a fall yearling, was the reserve champion and reserve junior champion. Tim LaVan showed the entry.
Red and White
A 4-year-old took the No. 1 spot in the Red and White show. Grand champion honors went to Minor Acres Redman Nova-Red shown by Morgan Minor.
Austin Martin showed the reserve champion entry, Martinholm AA Redman Kitty-Red. The fall yearling was also the junior champion and the Best Owned and Bred animal.
