JEROMESVILLE, Ohio — At the April 22 state animal health contest, the Hillsdale FFA team placed 13th.

The team consisted of Kelsey King, Michelle Funk, Mariah Gibbons and Asheena French. The chapter will be attending the Ohio State Convention May 2-3.

ALBANY, Ohio — The Alexander FFA chapter went to the Ohio State fairgrounds March 29 to compete in the livestock and equine judging competitions.

Students competing in livestock judging were: Brent Kasler, Kara Oberholzer, Zach Crabtree, Kathy Kasler, Ben Smith, Kim Holcomb, Kara Holcomb, Whitney Mullins and Heather Pack.

Students competing in horse judging event were: Taylor Adelsberger, Kara Endick, Noelle Eveland and Colton Adams.

Michael Reeve also participated in the dairy handlers contest.

Overall, Zach Crabtree placed fourth the district livestock judging and Taylor Adelsberger placed third in district horse judging.

ALLIANCE, Ohio — A group of horticulture students from Marlington FFA competed at the floriculture contest April 18 held at the Agricultural and Technical Institute.

Team members included: Brittany Schulz, Liz Conrad, Audra Carroll, Christine Whitaker, Hannah Oyster, Lauren Hohman and Carrie Favery.

The team placed sixth overall.

MILLERSBURG, Ohio — The newly elected West Holmes FFA officer team traveled to Union Local High School in Belmont County April 11 for the 2008 District 8 awards banquet and officer training.

Members of the officer team in attendance were: Linsey Howell, president; Paul Skolmutch, vice president; Cynthia Bunch, secretary; Tyler Schonauer, treasurer; and Kyle Hanna, sentinel.

The evening started with attendees breaking into groups based on their offices. There, they learned the responsibilities associated with their office and participated in hands-on training to help them prepare for their duties.

After the workshops, the attendees sat down for the District 8 awards banquet. The officers received the honors on behalf of the chapter, which had been earned over the course of the year at the district level.

Receiving awards for Career Development Events were the ag sales team, first place; parliamentary procedure, first place, Olha Demchun, job interview, Division V, first place; Kesha Klingler, job interview, Division II, fourth place; Emma Brewer, job interview, Division III, first place; Nikole Hanna, Division IV, second place; ag communications, second place.

Receiving awards for Supervised Agricultural Experience Proficiencies were Katie O’Donnell, third place, specialty animal entrepreneurship; Emma Brewer, second place, accounting; Linsey Howell, third place, sheep entrepreneurship; Paul Skolmutch, third place, dairy placement; and Jared Zollars, fourth place, diversified agriculture placement.
