Editor:
I just want to thank you for making my day.
I always read the section called “Read It Again” from 80, 50 and 25 years ago and enjoy the facts and figures from the different times. But imagine my surprise when I read 25 years ago and saw my dad’s name.
My father, John Poulson, was honored by the Harrison County Dairyman’s Association as Dairyman of the Year in 1979. He had been sick since 1970 and yet we continued to milk cows.
Dad gave me a lot of credit for the continuation of our dairy operation even though I was only a senior in high school in 1979. He really made me what I am today and despite his illness tried to give my sister and me the best of himself.
Sadly, we lost Dad on April 8, 1990, at age 53. He never got to meet his grandsons but we feel that we have a legacy to pass on to them. My two sons are fourth generation on the family farm and I hope that they continue to keep the farm in the family.
Thanks again for a wonderful paper that we enjoy every week. Keep up the good work
