Hello from Hazard!
Well, the Red Baron would certainly know that Item No. 717 is affectionately called a “Snoopy,” for not only does the tool look like the shape of the fictional beagle, but it’s also used on Snoopy’s Sopwith Camel airplane.
The tool is a fastener key, used to loosen or tighten fasteners on aircraft inspection panels.
“It was one of the first things issued to a new Navy student pilot,” writes Tom Biery Jr. of Amherst, Ohio, who still has his.
Readers Jennie Strubel and Ned Lewton also knew how the tool was used, as did Ben Ream of Massillon, Ohio.
(All readers, however, had a different spelling for the key’s name: Zooce, Zeus and dzus. Can anyone confirm the proper spelling?)

This week’s tool, Item No. 718, is from a batch of gizmos shared by Randy Winland of Prospect, Ohio. It measures about 10 inches. Does anyone know what it is?
