WOOSTER, Ohio – FFA teaches students more than just agriculture; it teaches them life skills, according to David Acker, a local auctioneer, FFA alumni and guest speaker at the 2004 Triway FFA Banquet.
“You have to be impressed with what these young people have done,” Acker said.
“You learn a lot of basics in FFA. Agriculture is tough right now and a lot of you may not be in farming, but the opportunities are there for you to be in an agricultural business.”
Acker added that when he talks to young people at career days, he encourages them to do something they like to do.
“Set your goals, but your goals can also change and your outlook changes,” he said.
“Do what you like to do, if you can’t get up and look forward to going to work, do something else. Enjoy life, enjoy what you are doing.”
Acker commended instructor Dale Sidle for his work with the program and the activities the students have been involved in. He also commended the parents, staff and administration for their support of the students and the program.
