MASSILLON, Ohio – We may not be able to skate on “The Rezzy” anymore, but there will be a day full of outdoor fun in Reservoir Park during RezzyFest, Massillon’s second annual birthday party. The event is scheduled for Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
This year’s event falls on the exact 176th anniversary of the town’s founding.
The community event will feature strolling entertainers, ice sculptors, children’s activities, storytelling in the Massillon Rotary igloo, chain saw wood carving, concessions and birthday cake, blacksmithing and soap making demonstrations, crafts, a heated Massillon history tent, trivia, and entertainment.
There will be rides on the Polar Express and an auction of wood carvings made at the event.
After dark, the park will come alive with 50,000 lights and most of last year’s 200 abstract pine trees will return in a new configuration.
The event is free. Small charges will be made for food and some activities. A schedule of events and a map of the grounds will be available at the entrance to the park.
Free parking will be available on nearby streets, in the park lots south of the reservoir, and at Smith School. SARTA will run a continuous shuttle from the Meadows Plaza parking lot, where free parking is available.
