My friend, Jan, often quotes Psalm 118:24, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
How often do you quote that scripture and practice what is says? It’s a very good scripture and I hear people often quote it; however, it’s a scripture we must have a desire in our hearts to live by or else it will simply become words with not very much meaning.
Psalm 118:24 speaks to us about today. Jan is a lady that rejoices in the Lord daily. When we rejoice in the Lord on a daily basis, our lives are a living testimony of our love for God.
Rejoicing in the Lord daily not only puts a smile on your face so others can see it, but it puts one in your heart so others can feel it.
Let every corner of this day
Become an altar, Lord, for Thee.
A quiet place where I can pray
And hear Thee talk to me.
The bright expectancy of dawn
Will not endure the noon day heat
Unless refreshing strength is dawn
Where altars touch Thy feet.
What are your plans for the rest of this day? No doubt you have a lot of things you would like to accomplish. However, you will not get them done if you fail to make an effort to accomplish them.
It’s much like the painter, who said following his lunch hour, “Well, I guess I had better get back to work. This wall will not paint itself.”
It’s the same way with rejoicing daily in the Lord. No one can do it for you. You must do it for yourself.
Don’t let the rest of the day go by without rejoicing in God for a wonderful day.
