UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The B. and H. Henisch photo-history collection exhibit room in 201A Pattee Library on the campus of Penn State University will open to the public Nov. 15.
It contains a display area for changing exhibits and is accessible to the public for study purposes. The collection, acquired from Bridget A. and Heinz K. Henisch in 1995, includes daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes, ivorytypes, opaltypes, cyanotypes, daguerreotype cases and other historical photos, including family and travel albums.
The collection also includes 19th century prints on paper, prints on unusual materials such as cloth and leather and over painted photographs of all kinds.
Many of the items in the collection are described in books by Heinz and Bridget Henisch, all published by the Penn State Press.
Heinz K. Henisch is emeritus professor of the History of Photography at Penn State.
