Mid-Ohio Growers Meeting

MOUNT HOPE, Ohio — The Mid-Ohio Growers Meeting will be held Jan. 11-12 at Mt. Hope Event Center, on the Mt. Hope Auction Grounds.

Now in its sixth year, the Mid-Ohio Growers Meeting will be an all-inclusive event for those involved in vegetable, fruit and flower production.

Registrants can attend speaker presentations on a wide variety of topics, and browse the latest offerings from more than 90 vendors in the trade show.

Sessions

Thirty-three sessions are scheduled to be presented by 25 speakers. There will be simultaneous presentations in three rooms, with sessions designed for people follow different tracks based on their interests.

In addition to the speaker presentations, there also will be hands-on sessions, including sessions on sprayer calibration, soil testing and combination flower planting.

David Kline, a local Amish farmer, author and publisher. Kline, who is an editor for Farming magazine, operates a 150-acre farm near Mount Hope, along with his wife, daughter and son-in-law.

He combines traditional farming practices with new approaches to production that enhance both biodiversity and profitability.

Other speakers will present topics on: growing berries, organic vegetables, identifying insects, growing sweet corn and growing specialty root crops, business and marketing.

Individuals who need continuing education credits for pesticide applicator permits can attend sessions that will qualify for those credits.

Register

Breakfast will be available both days, as well as a lunch, sandwiches and salads. Vendors will provide free refreshments Jan. 11 from 6-7 p.m.

Admission is $25 at the door, or you can pre-register for $20. One admission covers both days. Children 14 and under are admitted free. Doors open at 7 a.m.
