SALEM, Ohio — The Ohio Auctioneers Association is getting a new management team to handle the affairs of the association.
The association board of directors has hired KJMB, LLC to manage the affairs of the association.
New management
Effective, Feb. 1, 2013, Kathy Baber, owner of KJMB, LLC. will assume the role of executive director of the OAA. Baber is currently the executive director of the Indiana Auctioneers Association and will remain in that role, and will jointly manage both the OAA and IAA.
Change needed
OAA President Jeff Harvey said the change was needed to address the changes in the auctioneering industry, not just in Ohio, but nationally. He said one of the changes is online auctions and the new management will help give the association the leadership it needs in that arena.
“The new management company has closer relations working with the day-to-day auction industry,” Harvey said.
Harvey said KJMB has experience in managing auction associations such as the Indiana Auctioneer Association. Under Baber’s leadership, IAA has implemented programs to increase auctioneers’ exposure at the statehouse as well as established board and membership development programs.
Membership
Another area the new management team will be able to support is an increase in membership. Harvey said membership in the OAA has increased while other auction associations have been decreasing, and he wants the increase to continue.
The previous management company, Accent On Management, had worked with the association for over two decades.
Harvey said Baber will be attending the OAA Winter Convention, Jan. 11-13 in Columbus where members can meet her and learn about future plans for the OAA.
