WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center of The Ohio State University have formalized a long-standing relationship between the two institutions while laying the groundwork for future collaboration.
The formal proposal reinforces the two institutions’ commitment to promote activities and programs involving governmental and non-governmental agencies.
It also provides for exchanges of faculty and staff for short-term projects and seminars, or longer-term studies such as those conducted on research and study leaves.
In addition, the OARDC faculty will continue to advise Wooster’s undergraduate students conducting sophomore research and may serve as second readers of senior independent study thesis.
Exchange info. Under the agreement, the two institutions will exchange educational documents and scientific publications while keeping each other informed about seminars, symposia, and conferences in their respective departments.
Both schools will encourage the exchange of scientific information through their libraries as well.
Neither institution will be obligated to provide financial support to the other, but both may provide support for programs of interest. They may also apply jointly or separately for funding sources in support of collaborative programs.
Faculty members from both institutions have been working together for a number of years.
“Research partnerships encourage an exchange of ideas,” said Dean Fraga, associate professor of biology at Wooster and one of the coordinators of the new pact.
“The more faculty members you have working together, the better the project. This new agreement should foster more collaboration and therefore better science.”
