YOUNGSTOWN – Noted author Toni Morrison will be the subject of book discussion groups at the Main Library and the Austintown and Boardman branches in August in anticipation of her appearance at Powers Auditorium as part of the Youngstown State University Skeggs Lecture Series.
Morrison, born in Lorain, Ohio, is the author of The Bluest Eye, Sula, Song of Solomon, Tar Baby, Jazz, Paradise, and Beloved, for which she was earned a Pulitzer Prize.
Morrison was also awarded a Nobel Prize in 1993.
When and where. Her main theme is the African-American experience, particularly that of women. Discussion groups are planned for:
* Boardman library, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m.
* Main library, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m.
* Austintown library, Aug. 26, 7 p.m.
Attendance at these discussion groups is limited and a spot must be reserved by contacting the library’s Development Department at 330-744-8636, ext. 118.
Those attending the discussion groups are asked to read the books in advance.
YSU appearance. Morrison will be appearing Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Powers Auditorium for YSU’s Skeggs Lecture Series.
