BE OF GOOD CHEER
“Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee” Matt. 9:2. Have you ever paused to think about the fact that you only have one life to live on this earth? The older I get the more I realize that time is going fast and that I need to slow down and enjoy it more than I am doing.
I remember a person years ago who told me they woke up one morning and was not having a good day. I asked why not? They answered by telling me they could not remember what they were worrying about when they went to bed last night and it was bothering them. One thing is sure, worry will destroy cheerfulness. I think most of us have learned that lesson by experience. “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine” Prov. 17:22.
To enjoy a cheerful life you must learn to look on the positive side of life and not always dwell on the negative. There is more to talk about than troubles and trials. Dwelling on good things increases ones a cheerfulness. Sometimes we just need to lighten up and stop taking everything so serious and to heart. My father used to remind me at times when I would complain as a young man growing up by saying to me “Let it go in one ear and out the other.” It is an old fashioned statement however, it works not always but some of the time.
To remain cheerful we need to realize the benefit of a good laugh or even a happy smile. “A laugh is worth a hundred groans in any market” – Charles Lamb. “A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business and is the countersign of friends.” – anonymous.
I really look forward to meeting people who are cheerful people. They make me feel good. Sometimes after being around them I forget about the things that were dragging me down in life and I too become more cheerful. It is like a chain reaction. We can pass our cheerfulness to another person and they can pass it on.
It’s everybody’s business
In this old world of ours,
To pull up all the weeds we find
To make room for the flowers,
So that every little garden
No matter where it lies
Will look like one God made
and called it PARADISE. –anonymous.
Be of good cheer my friend and have a happy day!
THINK ABOUT IT!
