CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio — Columbiana County Auctioneer Wade Baer, of Baer Auctioneers-Realty LLC, was named the 2017 Ohio Auctioneers Champion during the Ohio Auctioneers Association (OAA) annual conference in Cuyahoga Falls, Jan. 13-15.
Baer is a third generation auctioneer and real estate broker and is a 15-year veteran in the auction industry conducting over 100 auctions per year including real estate, farm and heavy equipment, firearms, business liquidations and estates.
Baer also enjoys calling for the Columbiana and Mahoning County Junior Fair Livestock Sales. He is a member of the Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Auctioneers Associations as well as the National Auctioneers Association (NAA).
Billy Peyton, of Somerville, received the junior champion award and Douglas Walton, of Upper Sandusky, was inducted into the Ohio Auctioneer’s Hall of Fame.
New leaders
OAA elected new leadership during the annual business meeting: President Scott Mihalic, Chardon; Vice-President Darren Bok, Hicksville; Treasurer Jerry Hall, Warren; Director at Large Buddy Barton, Wooster; Southeast Director Anna VanDyke, North Canton; Northeast Director Robert Carpenter, Wayne; and Southeast Director Laura Mantle, Columbus.
Remaining board members include: Susan Johnson, Karen Huelsman, Wade Baer, and immediate past president Peter Gehres.
Highlights
Along with awards, the conference featured a trade show, a children’s auction and educational seminars held by industry leading auctioneers and presenters.
The 2018 Conference will be held at the Marriott at the Columbus Airport Jan. 12-14.
