HARMONY, Pa. – The Harmony Society’s early 19th century natural history museum and its historical significance will be described in an illustrated presentation at the Harmony Museum May 13.
The program, free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the museum’s Stewart Hall. Refreshments will be served.
The speaker will be site historian Raymond V. Shepherd of Old Economy Village, at Ambridge in Beaver County, where the museum has been recreated.
Ambridge was founded as Econornie in 1824, the third and final home of the communal Harmony Society of pacifist German Separatists who first settled Harmony in 1804.
Old Economy Village is operated by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and preserves the heart of the Society’s Econornie.
