MENTOR, Ohio – James A. Garfield National Historic Site programs for February begin Feb. 8 with Behind the Scenes II, “Beauty Framed: A Visual Arts Tour of Lawnfield.”
Learn about the artists and photographers whose works surround the Garfield family, and look at the paintings, lithographs and other images in the Garfield home at 2 p.m.
Cost is $12 for Western Reserve Historical Society members and $15 for nonmembers.
Preregistration is required. Tours are limited to 15 people.
The tour does not cover the information on the regular house tour.
Tea workshops. The Victorian Craft Teas workshop Feb. 12 will be presented by Lynette Trolli, a member of the Victorian Ladies Tea Society and Western Reserve Herb Society.
Attendees will learn the combination of herbs used by Victorians to provide a pleasant night of dreaming. They will also make their own dream pillow.
Reservations are required and size is limited to 15.
Cost is $12 for members and $14 for nonmembers, and discounts are available for those who attend two or more workshops.
Another Victoria Craft Teas will be Feb. 26 and will discuss Victorian sachets used to freshen drawers and luggage.
Presidents Day. The Presidents Day program will be Feb. 17 and include a game called Presidential Squares, an interactive trivia game of tick-tack-toe for all ages.
Crafts and activities are 1-4 p.m. and the game is at 1:30 p.m. Presidential guests will offer first-person accounts of their lives and answer questions.
