FAYETTEVILLE, Ohio — Thirty Fayetteville FFA members traveled to Columbus May 4 to attend the 88th Ohio State FFA Convention. The Fayetteville FFA Chapter was given a Gold Rating, and was recognized for donating to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital and CROP Church World Service. Bailey Barber, Blaise Boler, Haley Moore and Collin Brinkman crossed the stage to accept these awards.
Collin Brinkman placed third in the state for his proficiency in Environmental Science and Natural Resources Management Placement. Lindsey Davis placed first in her Fruit Production proficiency and will advance to the National Evaluation to be Ohio’s candidate for that area. Members Faith Stegbauer and Tara Carnes were recognized for their Gold-Rated Secretary’s Book and Treasurer’s Book, respectively. Five individuals, Bailey Barber, Meghan Koch, Aurora Mullins, Cole Schaefer and Laura Stahl received their State FFA Degree.

PALMYRA, Ohio- Twenty-eight members of the Southeast FFA attended the 88th Ohio FFA State Convention where five members received the State FFA Degree. Winners were Ashley Hench, Seth Johnson, Caroline Rohal, Danielle Whitted and Brandon Loebick. The chapter also toured the agriculture campus of the Ohio State University.
A chapter FFA meeting was held May 12 where it was decided that a cookout will be held on May 19 for those who reached their fruit and beef jerky goals. A summer officer retreat is planned for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 officer teams. Chapter members will also attend FFA Camp Muskingum; those who tripled their fruit and beef jerky goals will attend for free. A Pie in the Face Fundraiser will be held the week of May 16. The officer with the most money in their jug will get a pie in the face. The money will go to local families in need. The annual petting zoo and tractor safety day is coming up May 25.

ARLINGTON, Ohio — Eight members of the Arlington FFA chapter traveled to State Convention May 4-6. They toured the Radnor Grain Elevator, The American Whistle Corporation, and the Ohio State University’s Plant Pathology Lab and Waterman Dairy Farm as well as attending convention sessions. The chapter was recognized for raising $467.28 for Nationwide Children’s Hospital as well as $200 for CROP/CWS World Hunger Relief through their peanut sales during football games.
Chapter member Colton Kidd received his State FFA Degree. He is the first Arlington FFA member to receive this award since 2010. Kidd’s Supervised Agricultural Experience projects included working for his family septic business, fence building with his brother, and fixing old lawn mowers to sell.

ANDOVER, Ohio — Twenty members of the Pymatuning Valley FFA chapter attended the Ohio FFA convention May 5-6. Three members receive their State Degrees this year: Tyler Conoboy, Tyler Dunbar and Katie Stokes. Seth King and Katie Stokes participated in the AgriScience Fair and Kaitlyn Crouch participated in the state FFA choir. Tyler Dunbar was also a candidate for state office.

BELOIT, Ohio — The West Branch FFA chapter held their annual banquet May 5. An awards ceremony followed. The Star Greenhand awards went to Kearstin Rummel and Neil Ginnetti. Kelly Ginnetti earned the Outstanding Sophomore award. Sami Stryffeler, Carl Bates and Anthony Ginnetti were named Outstanding Juniors, and Outstanding Seniors were Austin T. Smith and Ellie Elasivich. The Star Chapter Farmer went to Mike Douglas.
New officers for the 2016-2017 year are: Anthony Ginnetti, president; Sami Stryffeler, vice president; Kelly Ginnetti, secretary; Mitchell Craig, treasurer; Mitchell Sharp, reporter; and Jared Gandee, sentinel.

OBERLIN, Ohio — The Firelands FFA had its most successful State FFA Conventions in school history. Twenty-seven students traveled to Columbus for the State FFA Convention May 5-6. Students helped pack meals for over 88,000 people in need, attended leadership sessions, and the career show and FFA mall.
Pablo Barranco represented the chapter on stage for working with FFA Fights Hunger. Chapter adviser Shanna Finnegan and members Katy Tuggle and Mike Anadell represented the chapter on stage during the National Winners Recognition for earning National Champion Model of Innovation-Community Division at the National FFA Convention last year.
Six students received State FFA Degree: Evan Born, Tori Hritsko, Jesse Jones, Grace Pohorence, Sophia Pohorence and Madi Stanley. Eight students qualified for top four in state proficiencies and interviewed for final placings. State proficiency winners: Tuggle, accounting; Alex Sabine, diversified crop placement; Brandon Palmer, agricultural processing; Anadell, beef production placement; Clayton Spiegelberg, second place for vegetable production; Stanley, second place for fruit production; Katie Fath, third place for agricultural sales placement; and Megan Brandich, fourth place for goat production entrepreneurship.
Anadell, Palmer and Sabine will all move on to represent Ohio at the national level.
For the first time, Firelands had students selected to be finalists for Star State FFA Degrees. Finalists were: Tuggle, Star Farmer; Sabine, Star in Agricultural Placement; and Palmer, Star in Agricultural Business. Caitlin Gallagher, Palmer and Sabine were recognized as gold rated officers. Macey Butchko was selected as one of the top 10 talents acts and won second place overall in the talent contest. She was chosen to sing the National Anthem during a session, perform on the Bricker Stage, and be a session entertainer during the final session of convention
During the state FFA president’s retiring address, three Firelands FFA members were invited to assist him on stage: Anadell, Barranco and Jesse Jones.

ASHLAND, Ohio — This year, 28 members of the Crestview FFA chapter attended Ohio FFA convention May 5-6, in Columbus. Members toured Sunrise Cooperative in Crestline and the Ohio State University’s College of Food Agriculture and Environmental Sciences,

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Ohio FFA received a $5,735 donation through its participation in the Real Yield Game, sponsored by the LibertyLink soybean system and Bayer. As a top 10 finisher in the Real Yield Game, Ohio FFA organizations will share in a $50,000 contribution.
Twenty-eight state FFA organizations participated in the challenge. The chapters promoted the online Real Yield Game to growers within their states. The more growers playing determined the donation values for their respective states.
The Ohio FFA helped participation with promotional emails, banner ads, social media posts and handouts, in addition to using a kiosk at the Soy Excited event. This outreach enabled them to win the second largest donation.
The Real Yield Game is the first social instant win experience sponsored by LibertyLink.
