WINDHAM, Ohio — Robert Ashley Taft, 70, of Windham died at his home Dec. 10, 2011.
Mr. Taft was born May 1, 1941, in Windham Ohio, the son of the late Francis Taft and Hazel (Smallsreed) Taft. He married Ann Louise Shoup on July 8, 1967, and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage together.
He worked most of his life as a self-employed dairy farmer on his farm in Windham, and was active in various agricultural organizations. He was a member of the Windham Congregational United Church of Christ for many years and a church trustee. He also volunteered for the free community dinners sponsored by the church.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Julie Heasley of Ravenna, Ohio; a son, Rob Taft of Bar Harbor, Maine; a sister, Marjorie Sunbury of Johnston, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled Dec. 14 at the James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, in Newton Falls, with Rev. Patrick Malone officiating. Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Dec. 13. He will be buried beside his parents at Windham Township Cemetery.
