There are nearly 795 million people that don’t have food to help them lead healthy and active lives, according to Upworthy. And with the potential for the world’s population to expand from 7.2 billion to 9.6 billion by 2050, there won’t be as much land to farm and produce food for a growing population. How will we feed everyone?
The solution may be floating farms. Meaning, on water.
Upworthy says that Spanish firm Forward Thinking Architecture is planning build floating hydroponic farms. Aside from being self-regulating, these farms would have lower maintenance needs. Built on bodies of water near major cities, floating farms could help to feed metropolitan areas.
