MOUNT HOPE, Ohio — David and Emily Hershberger will host an organic farming educational day Oct. 23, starting with registration/check-in at 8:30 a.m. and concluding at 3 p.m.
The sessions will start at 9 a.m., with Alan Guebert, author of The Land of Milk and Uncle Honey, and columnist for Farm and Dairy.
The rest of the day will feature breakout sessions.
A farmer round-table will discuss the challenges and opportunities of 2015 on their organic farm; Shane Hartzler will share organic practices on his organic dairy; David Hershberger will present “Walk with The Farmer On His Farm;” and Mike Lilburn will offer a session on “Adding Poultry to Your On-Going Organic Farm: Pastured Poultry.”
Other topics will include fly control for livestock, foliar experiences by Ohio and Indiana farmers, and Jane Siemon from Wisconsin will be doing sessions on “Setting an Organic Table.”

Cost for the day is $10 per person and children under 5 get in free. Snacks and lunch are included in the registration. Organic local food will be served.
The farm is located at 5119 Township Road 613, Fredericksburg, Ohio.
Deadline for registration is Oct. 16.
