Fall festival features crafts, old car show

RANDOLPH, Ohio – The Randolph Heritage Festival and Craft Show will be held at the Randolph Fairgrounds Sept. 27-28.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Classic cars, Model A’s. The event includes a garden tractor pull Saturday at 1 p.m. and a classic car show Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 50 cars during Sunday’s show.

Saturday will feature a display of Model A cars from a local Model A club.

Craft show. There will also be area crafters demonstrating and selling their handiwork, and demonstrations on basket marking, soap making, wood carving, blacksmithing and quilting.

There will be Civil War displays and re-enactments and carriage rides. The 29th Ohio Volunteer Infantry will perform drills, and firing Civil War era muskets.

Sunday, at noon and 2 p.m., trick roper Len Zaleski will put on a show.

The American Red Cross will take blood donations on Saturday and the Portage County bicentennial bell will be on display both days.

Children’s activities. A children’s building offers activities such as face painting, a hay maze, pumpkin painting and an exotic animal show and balloon artist.

For other youth, a rock climbing wall will be open on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

There will be a variety of food on the grounds, including bean soup and cornbread, homemade chicken dumpling soup, pies and sandwich stands.

Entertainment includes the senior buttonbox accordion group, Radical Emotion rock band, and the Kinetic Kids jump rope team.

Admission. Admission is $2; children under 12 are admitted free. Parking is free.

Proceeds. Proceeds from the festival are used for community projects. Past donations have been made to libraries within the Waterloo Local School District and St. Joseph School.

Donations have also been made to Happy Trails and the horticulture class at Maplewood Joint Vocational School.
