Oliver McGuire, of Champaign County, sold her reserve champion market steer for $22,000 to Martin D. Yoder Livestock, and Woodruff Enterprises. The exhibitor cap was $11,000.
Troy Elwer, of Allen County, sold his grand champion market barrow for $42,000 to Steve Rauch Excavation and Demolition, and Concessions by Cox. The exhibitor cap was $10,000.
The poultry skillathon winners helped sell a Thanksgiving dinner, in place of their poultry projects. Their projects were banned from this year’s fair, due to the avian influenza outbreak.
Skillathon winners were: Masson Sanders, Richland County; Katelyn Vollrath, Union County; Caleb Murawski, Ashland County; Mel Lindner, Erie County; Jillian Salmon, Delaware County; Seth Abel, Licking County; Dorothy Rees, Union County; Autumn Mohler, Union County; Taylor Thatcher, Clinton County; and Mallory Spring, Muskingum County (Mallory also won first place).
The dinner was purchased for $26,000, by Gerber Poultry, Cooper Farms, Weaver Brothers, Case Farms, Hertzfeld Farms, Trillium Farms, Prairie Star Farms, Hemmelgarn and Sons, Cal Maine Foods, Sauder Amish Eggs, Hillandale Farms, Stoller Farms, Kalmbach Feeds, Wendel Poultry Service, Nature Pure, New Day Farms, Mercer Landmark, and the Kroger Co.
Paige Pence, of Clark County, sold her grand champion goat for $17,500 to S&S Volvo, AG Boogher and Sons, and JD Equipment. The exhibitor cap was $5,000.
The grand champion Swiss Cheese was produced by Guggisberg Cheese Co., and represented the six dairy champions and supreme showmen. They were grand champion Ayrshire, Grace Hageman, Shelby County; grand champion Brown Swiss, Madelyn Topp, Auglaize County; crand champion Guernsey, Keenan Wolf, Wayne County; grand champion Holstein, Kyle Ackley, Logan County; grand champion Jersey, Lane Greiwe, Logan County; grand champion milking shorthorn, Kinley Topp, Shelby County; supreme showman, week 1, Blake Griewe, Logan County; and supreme showman, week 2, Madelyn Topp, Auglaize County.
