CARROLLTON, Ohio – Farmers looking to diversify their farm operations and increase farm income may want to consider raising meat goats.
A day-long workshop is planned to help farmers learn about producing and marketing meat goats in Ohio.
Workshop. The workshop, Raising and Marketing Meat Goats in Ohio, will be held Feb. 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Pushkarich Library in Cadiz.
Advance registration of $15 per person is required before Feb. 17. The fee includes lunch and all program materials.
Information. Topics covered will include supply and demand for meat goats in Ohio; understanding the markets for meat goats; breeds of goats; budgets for goat production; nutrition and health for goats; and how to get started with meat goats.
A panel of meat goat producers will be available to answer questions.
