Farm and Dairy received a number of great submissions for the first week of our Just Say Cheese photo contest.
Many made us chuckle, including one that we staffers have dubbed “Mad Cow.”
The photo depicted a cow whose eyes were glowing green. A Farm and Dairy employee now has the photo saved as the wallpaper on her computer.
There were a few submission that didn’t have much to do with dairy.
One person sent us a drawing of Miami Heat player Dwayne Wade with a caption that read: “I am a Heat fan, and I love my ice cream.”
But this week’s prize goes to Martha Anderson, who submitted a picture of a goat standing on a tree stump with a cloudy sky in the background.
In her description of the photo she writes, “Here is my perspective of a stare-down initiated by this goat at The Center of Palos Park, Illinois. If the goat had taken the picture, I would not have been portrayed so majestically. Who was the winner? The answer is still being debated in barns and lunchrooms across the county.”
For those of you who missed this week’s deadline, National Dairy Month isn’t over yet.
There is still time to enter your dairy-related photos in our Just Say Cheese photo contest.
Deadlines are 8 a.m. each Monday of the month, which is when the photos for that week’s contest will be judged.
This week’s deadline is set for 8 a.m. June 13. If you miss the deadline for the week, your submission will be entered into the following week’s contest.
We are accepting submissions anytime, with the final, grand prize deadline set for June 30.
Weekly winners will receive a $25 Baskin Robbins gift certificate, four free issues of Farm and Dairy and a Farm and Dairy mug and T-shirt.
The grand prize winner will receive the Farm and Dairy merchandise and a three-gallon tub of Penn State Creamery ice cream in the flavor of his or her choice. The ice cream will be shipped free to any location in the United States.
All winners will be featured in upcoming issues of Farm and Dairy; on our website, www.farmanddairy.com; and on our new blog, www.thesocialsilo.com.
