Circle L, Maple Lane come home from KILE with Limousin banners

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Limousin breeders Mike McPhee and Ed Nicol make quite a team, even though their farms are in different states.
McPhee, from Circle L Limousin Land Co. in Burbank, Ohio, and Nicol, from Maple Lane Farm, Enon Valley, Pa., captured the spotlight – and the eye of judge Ray Ramsay of Greenfield, Ind. – at the Limousin breeding cattle show at this year’s Keystone International Livestock Exposition.
Sixty-one Limousin took part in the day’s show and yet, despite tough competition, Circle L and Maple Lane Limousin placed consistently at the top of their classes.
The farms showed the top produce of dam, junior get-of-sire, senior get-of-sire, breeders best five head, and won premier breeder and premier exhibitor titles, in addition to a bevy of first-place ribbons.
The farms co-own the grand champion heifer, Nico Lene, and reserve champion heifer, Blaque Cialis. Circle L also won grand champion bull honors with Polled Paydirt.
Reserve champion bull went to Ivy Church Farm of Union Bridge, Md., owners of Mine PLD No Pressure 3673N.
Angus cattle. In the Angus show at this year’s Keystone International, Bush’s Full Blast 769, a bull owned by Tim Fitzgerald, West Grove, Pa., captured the grand champion bull title.
Also earning top honors at the show was Majors Fahrenheit 327P, exhibited by Dennis Majors, Monroe, Ohio, named both intermediate champion bull and reserve grand champion bull.
Lacey Lynn Murray of Garrett, Pa., took the intermediate champion and grand champion female titles with Cherry Knoll CSC Rosebud.
Taking the reserve grand champion female title was Cherry Knoll Jana of Conanga, owned by Heather Willis, Union Bridge, Md.
Shorthorn. Cates Farms from Modoc, Ind., exhibited both the grand and reserve champion bull in the Keystone’s Shorthorn beef cattle show Oct. 8.
Ar Su Lu Tonic was chosen as the grand champion bull, and the reserve champion title was given to CF Ringo XET.
Caney Valley Farm of Lakeland, Fla. exhibited the grand champion heifer with CF Myrtle Bo.
Winning the reserve grand champion heifer title was James Pitsenbarger, Whispering Brook Farm, Moyers, W.Va., with his heifer, WB Cheyennes My Girl.
Simmental. Mercer County’s Haven Woods Farm took seven titles during the 2005 Simmental Progress through Performance Show at the Keystone International.
The Stoneboro, Pa., farm consistently rose above the 133 other Simmentals and was named premier exhibitor and premier breeder.
Haven Woods showed the best five head, first-place junior bull calves, early spring heifer calves, reserve junior calf champion heifer, pair of heifers, junior bull calves, and reserve senior calf champion bull.
Judge Dan Eversole chose a bull owned by Randy and Jaime Mullinix of Purple Reign Cattle Company, Toulon, Ill., as the grand champion bull.
The reserve champion went to Andre Howe of Deana Jak Farm, Wagontown, Pa.
Grand champion female went to Keystone Cattle Services, Lebanon, Pa., and reserve champion female to Austin Henthorn. Fleming, Ohio.
