Ohio’s 311 reported farmers markets rank the state fourth in the nation on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s list, as reported by The Plain Dealer.

California, New York and Michigan lead Ohio in the rankings, having 764, 638 and 339 farmers markets, respectively. 8,268 reported farmers markets exist throughout the U.S.

Farmers markets are in demand as more people want to eat fresh, locally-grown food and support local farmers. Local economies also benefit when consumers purchase goods from farmers markets.
