FREDERICKSBURG, Ohio — Andrew R. Troyer, 6230 Moreland Road, Fredericksburg, Ohio, held an Art-Crest Holstein Dispersal Dec. 29 at his farm. The herd of 60 registered Holsteins sold for an average of $1690.
High seller
The high seller of the day at $3700 was Art-Crest Himetro Mable TW, a six year old daughter of Sikkema-Star-W Hi Metro. She was milking 101 pounds, bred to Picston Shottle, and a candidate for an Excellent classification score upon being presented to the classifier. Springwalk Farms, William Wachtel, Big Prairie, Ohio was the buyer.
Second high seller was Art-Crest Mich Goldie, a three year old daughter of Michael Storm Avalanche and from a Marcrest Encore dam. Recently fresh and milking 74 pounds a day, she was extremely sharp and dairy with a beautiful udder. She was the purchase of Springwalk Farms, Big Prairie, Ohio at $3000.
Bred heifers
Art-Crest Damion Duchess topped the bred heifers at $2900. A big, growthy, deep ribbed heifer, due in February to Picston Shottle, she was sired by Erbacres Damion and her dam was a To-Mar Blackstar daughter. She sold to Jeff Martin, Fayette, Ohio.
The second high selling bred heifer at $2750 was Art-Crest Advent Patty RC. Showing a beautiful udder promise, this daughter of KHW Advent-Red was from a Marcrest Encore dam and was bred to Aggravation Lawn Boy P-Red. Raygor Farms LLC, Dalton, Ohio was the buyer.
Open heifers
Art-Crest Winken Lassie was the high selling open heifer at $1050. Sired by Stardell Valiant Winken and from a Michael Storm Avalanche dam, she was purchased by Jacob J. Yoder, Millersburg, Ohio.
The high selling calf was Art-Crest Shottle Chrissy. Sired by Picston Shottle and from a Hanoverhill Raider dam, she was sold for $1650 to Darren Jentes, Burbank, Ohio.
Average
Cows averaged $2150, bred heifers $1925, open heifers $933 and calves $797. The sale was co-managed by Andrews Auctioneers LLC and the Ohio Holstein Association. Auctioneer was Steve Andrews, Wooster, Ohio. Pedigrees were read by Ted Renner, Dalton, Ohio and ringmen were Seth Andrews, Bob Graber, Lynn Neuenschwander, Ken Janes and Don Alexander.
