HANOVERTON, Ohio — The Hicks and Hayseeds 4-H Club met recently at the home of their advisers, Ken and Judy Brown.
Members were reminded of upcoming clinics, taggings and registration due dates for the fair.
They continued building a picnic table that will be raffled off to benefit the Hanoverton Fire Department and also worked on the Silent Auction basket for this year’s fair in Lisbon.
Sami Farmer showed the club how to make a bird treat from a stale bagel and Brynn Hofmeister talked about her turkey project and identified the parts of the bird. Sam Hake demonstrated how to sharpen an axe and Dallas Strong talked about PETA and the upcoming fair.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. June 1 at their advisers’ home. There will be a swim/graduation party for senior Brooke Riffee.

BERLIN CENTER, Ohio — Bob Wilson, from Camp Fire International, was guest speaker when Western Reserve Rangers 4-H Club met in May.
Wilson shared his extensive artifact collection of the American Indian and related historic facts about the life style and hunting techniques of several Indian tribes.
Vice President Delorean Jones recognized Ashley Algarin and Gabriella Marinescu for being selected to represent Mahoning County 4-H at State 4-H Leadership Camp this summer.
Delorean Jones reported on upcoming events for the County 4-H Junior Leader Club and Ashley Algarin updated us on activities of the Mahoning County 4-H Fashion Board. Hannah Shrader explained how to make a creative tri-fold display for judgings.
Hannah Mowery shared how she successfully raised both Market Chicken and Turkey Projects.
The members will march in the Berlin Township Memorial Day Parade May 30.
Western Reserve Rangers will meet again June 10. The club officers will give mock interviews to help prepare members for the upcoming judging events.

JEFFERSON, Ohio — The Prime Bovine 4-H meeting was held April 25. The meeting was called to order by President Kyle Jones.
Health Reports were given by Claire Dodrill on “Natural coat enhancer for cattle”, Tiffany Newbold on “Diseases in beef cattle, Kendall F. on “Hardware disease”, Braden Jerome on “Cattle Health” and Jacob Stitt on “Bronchitis”. The next safety reports will be given by Marilyn Gould, Jessica Zaebst, Seth and Silas Thomas.
The next health reports will be given by Jackie Delewski, Jason and Jessica Krulic, Kendall F. and Lilly Zaebst.
Jones announced that the senior horse bowl team for Ashtabula County won the state championship, and club secretary Claire Dodrill is a member of that team and they will be going to Congress and Nationals to represent the state.
Everyone who is taking an animal must attend quality assurance training.
The next meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. May 23 at Bodnars Northwind Farm.

BURTON, Ohio – The Swingin’ Hams Swine 4-H club met May 4.
Club president Elise Bruening reminded all members there was one more mandatory quality assurance meeting May 22.
Club members presented their project posters on diseases, showing techniques, ear notching, breeds, housing, fitting and showing hogs, and hog health care.
Scott Mihalic presented a video on selection process of buying a 4-H project hog. A club fund raiser (car wash) is set for 9 a.m. June 12 at the Middlefield Tractor Supply.
Swine ear tagging was held at the Geauga fairgrounds on May 15. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. June 1 in the Patterson Center at the Geauga County Fairgrounds.
The July 6 meeting will be at the Bruening Farm for Showmanship Clinic.

PARIS, Ohio — Dr. Gary Evanich, DVM came to talk to the members of the Farmers, Fitters & Critters 4-H Club about vaccinating their calves and answered questions on diseases, castration and dehorning April 10.
Members learned and practiced how to tie their animals.
The club learned about quality assurance through knowing how to read and understand medicine labels and feed labels May 16.
Discussed that Dairy Feeder Tag-in is from 10 a.m.- noon June 5 at Stark County Fair Grounds. The members made their own collections of feed samples.

OBERLIN, Ohio — The Pitch Fork Pals 4-H Club met April 18 at the Henrietta Township Hall.
The club had a t-shirt contest to decide on this year’s t-shirt for fair. McKenah Peters had the winning design. Sweatshirts and hoodies will also be available.
Demonstrations were given by Dylan Osborne, Zack Songer, Dustin Born and Matt Gulish.

KIPTON, Ohio –Goats Galore 4-H club met May 10 at the Kipton Recycle Center. Curtis Schultz did a demonstration with his guinea pig. The club will be participating in the Kipton Parade May 30.

CANFIELD, Ohio — The Mahoning County Junior Fair Board met May 20.
Jim Brown, president of the Canfield Fair Board, addressed the members about a media promotion with Ferris Industries. William Waino and Sam Barnhouse were selected to work with Ferris to promote the Junior Fair activities.
The group discussed helping with Ag Camp at the Mill Creek Metroparks Farm and participating in the Canfield July fourth Parade. The next meeting will be held June 17.

NORTH BENTON, Ohio — The Mahoning County Goat Herders met May 10 at the O’Brocks in North Benton.
The group discussed the parts of a goat, breeds of goats, and showmanship cards.
The next meeting is at 7 p.m. May 24 at the O’Brocks when the topic will be “making goat milk fudge.”

CARROLLTON, Ohio — The All American Kids 4-H club met May 16 in Carrollton. Members discussed the fitness walk at the fairgrounds, completed officer training and decided to plant flowers for the Carroll Health Center to thank them for the use of their meeting room.
Members cleaned roads as a community service project.
The next meeting is June 6 at 2 p.m. at Carroll Health Center and members will plant flowers.
