ASHLAND, Ohio — Parliamentary procedure is a meeting run by Robert’s rules of order. The contest is an evaluation of an FFA chapter’s ability to run a meeting by the rules of order. Points are given and taken away depending on how the team behaves according to the rules.
On Dec. 2, the Mapleton FFA chapter competed in the sub-district parliamentary procedure. There were four teams competing, including: Firelands, Hillsdale, Wellington and Mapleton.
Mapleton participants were: Shelby Rohr, Deandra Lowman, Sarah Cepero, Emily McKinley, Katherine Briggs, Brittany Telakowicz, Hailey Younce, Olivia Whitaker, Adam Heffelfinger and Colton Hickey. Mapleton finished second to Hillsdale and move on to district Dec. 9 at Crestview.
The junior parliamentary procedure team from Mapleton placed second at sub-districts. The members of the team included: Shannon Lowman, Alaina Lowman, Adam Heffelfinger, Herman Haupricht, Kyle Zimmerman, Logan Stokes, Colton Hickey, Kristen Roberts and Paige Reisinger. They will also compete at districts Dec. 9.
JEROMESVILLE, Ohio — The Hillsdale FFA chapter sent two teams to the District 2 Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Event Dec. 9 at Crestview High School.
The Hillsdale senior team placed first in the district contest qualifying them to compete in the State Parliamentary Procedure CDE Dec. 19.
Team members were: McKenzie Stimmell; Kelsey Eberly; Kristen Deter; Hannah Shock; Sarah Bookman; Michael Schuck; Morgan Austin; Dylan Mullins; Stephanie Schuck and Matt Zimmerman.
The Hillsdale junior team placed first in the district in their division as well. Team members were: Matt Zimmerman; Sarah Bookman; Lawhun; Emily Vangilder; Aaron Maki; Beth Steele; Andrew Keets; Cole Bachmann; Austin Bright and Dilon Strine.
On Dec. 5, the Hillsdale FFA chapter sent four members to compete at the State Food Science Technology Career Development Event.
The team placed first at the state contest, which qualifies them to compete in the National Food Science Technology CDE at the 83rd National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.
Team members were: Kelsey King, second individually; Hannah Shock, sixth; Jeff Stimmell, 10th and Ashley Pickering, 20th.
Also, Kelsey King received a $2,000 scholarship to The Ohio State University to major in Food Science for placing second in the state.
