COLUMBUS — A land use conference coordinated by the Ohio State University Extension Sept. 16 will focus on concerns ranging from sustainable growth to renewable energy.
Land use conference. The annual Ohio Land Use Conference will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center in Columbus.
Registration is $60 and includes all meals and materials.
Keynote speakers include:
• Lynn Richards, senior policy analyst with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, who will explain the federal government’s new interagency partnership for sustainable communities.
• Gail Hesse of Ohio’s Water Resources Council, speaking on a new balanced growth program for Ohio.
• Gil White, with the Michigan Association of Realtors, who will explain Michigan’s “People and Land” project.
• Elena Irwin, associate professor, Ohio State University Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics, who will present “Is Sprawl Dead?”
Also to be covered. Other topics on the program include planning for renewable energy, rural zoning update, transportation planning in Ohio, the Get Green Columbus program, best practices for stormwater planning, and zoning for agricultural land uses.
A diverse faculty of attorneys, planners, state and local officials and academics will present the sessions.
