MILLERSBURG, Ohio — On June 8, 15 West Holmes FFA members attended FFA Camp Muskingum. Members attending camp included: Ryan Jacobs, Shane Gardener, Chris Neville, Cory Phillips, Maggie Raber, Karrissa Coblentz, Paul Skolmutch, Brant Duncan, David Campbell, Brandon Bowles, Brooke Landon, Travis Campbell, Cynthia Bunch, Kiersten Sigler and Marshall Overholt.
The year theme was pirates and members also had the chance to try new things like rock climbing, zip lining, canoeing and kayaking are just a few.
The camp session is also a competition as each activity the campers do can earn points for their chapter, followed by on the last day the top chapter being named.
During the day, members had the opportunity to attend leadership sessions, play sports, learn how to shoot shotguns, rifles or bow and arrow, go motor-boating or canoeing or attend the nature center.
ASHLAND, Ohio — The Crestview FFA 2009-10 officer team held the chapter’s annual officer retreat from June 30 to July 2 in Mohican.
The officers started in the classroom at Crestview, working on determining their organizational core values, personal and chapter goals, and conducted a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats analysis.
The next two days were spent working on the Crestview FFA Program of Activities. Activity budgets, goals and ways and means were developed for more than 40 chapter activities that will be conducted throughout the next school year.
Responsibility for these activities will be delegated to the chapter’s 15 standing committees and committee chairs which be selected in September.
The chapter sent Jed Sauder to the Washington Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. June 23-28. Sauder had the opportunity to experience many different activities and events.
Participants also had the opportunity to perform a community service project and help to clean up a park in downtown D.C.
Sauder was able to attend this conference with the help of a scholarship from the Crestview FFA alumni.
During the week of June 8-12, the chapter sent 17 members to the Ohio FFA camp. The members spent time in leadership workshops and other activities.
The members were in 14 different camp groups with FFA members from chapters across Ohio. The groups learned teamwork with the sports tournaments.
The campers could purchase rubber ducks for a dollar and all the money raised went to Akron’s Children’s Hospital.
