WARREN, Ohio — Have you been wondering if solar technology could work for you on your farm or in your home?
Then a trip to Warren, Ohio, may be the thing you need. Visitors will witness a working photovoltaic system at James Kilpatrick’s farm beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11.
Local volunteers for the state non-profit Green Energy Ohio are organizing the site visit to showcase a 6.7 kW “grid-tied” photovoltaic array that has been producing about two thirds of the farm’s electric power since late in 2006.
Kilpatrick, a graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in agronomy, was also a research assistant at the Ohio Agriculture Research and Development Center in Wooster for five years. He has farmed since 1976, raising corn, wheat and soybeans.
Visitors will learn about the costs, incentives and the benefits of a photovoltaic system.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 330-647-3666 or visit www.GreenEnergyOhio.org.
