DAYTON, Ohio — The Dayton Power and Light Company, a subsidiary of DPL Inc., has issued a request for proposals regarding biofuels for use at its generating stations.
Plans
The company plans to purchase a maximum of 15,000 tons of biomass fuels by the end of 2009 and a maximum of 100,000 tons in the following five years.
All biofuel products submitted must meet the requirements set forth by the Ohio Revised Code and as defined in the request.
Examples
Biofuels are organic and biodegradable materials derived from renewable sources and are processed especially for burning in existing equipment at the company’s electricity generating plants. Examples include:
— Wood and grass crops or by-products
— Food waste
— Animal waste or by-products
— Biodegradable solid waste; and
— Biologically derived methane gas
All proposals submitted in response to this request must be received by the company no later than July 10.
