ORWELL, Ohio — The Mustang Wranglers 4-H horse club had its regular monthly meeting June 13 at Saddles Etc. & Gift Shop.
Members are preparing for Skillathon. They have had several work sessions learning about riding and showing skills.
Natasha Sobie represented her club along with other 4-H members from Ashtabula County at the State Hippology Contest in Columbus June 15.
The first junior team placed fourth out of 25 teams.
Ciara Davis gave a demonstration on horse’s health.
Members raised money at their bake sale and also participated in helping clean up the grounds at Camp Whitewood.
The next regular meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. July 11 at the Extension Office.

BARNESVILLE, Ohio — The Barnesville Progressive Home Helpers held a meeting June 6 at the Main Street United Methodist Church.
Demonstrations were given by Jacob Greenlee, Mariah Riley, Megan Riley, Kortney Temple, Taylor Harry and Mary Moore and Leann Moore.
The club discussed the project judging requirements and exhibit requirements.
The next meeting will be at 10 a.m. July 11 at the Main Street United Methodist Church.
COLUMBUS — The Saddle and Sirloin Club from Ohio State University released the winners from its annual Club Lamb Show June 13-14 at the Clark County Fairgrounds.
There were 193 lambs exhibited and judged by Allen Hybsha of Binger, Okla., on Saturday.
Grand champion went to Betsy Neer, 17, of Urbana with her 107-pound Hampshire.
A member of Mechanicburg’s FFA, Neer bought her lamb from Devitt Club lambs and plans to take it to the county fair and sell it at their market auction.
Reserve grand was awarded to Taylor Banbury, 12, of Danville with her 108-pound Hampshire.
Banbury is a member of Barnyard Bunch 4-H, and purchased her lamb from Ellerbrock Club Lambs. She plans to show her lamb at the state fair.
Rounding out the top five were Rebecca Wallen, 18, of St. Paris with her homebred 113-pound Natural; Madison Banbury, 12, of Danville with her 108-pound Crossbred lamb; and Tara Eisenhauer, 11, of Bellevue with her 111-pound Natural.
Cade Wilson from Levelland, Texas, judged 192 lambs on Sunday.
Madison Banbury received grand champion with her 103-pound crossbred lamb, and she also plans on showing her lamb at the state fair.
Reserve champion was awarded to Lesley Small, 13, of Gallipolis. She was showing her 97-pound Hampshire. She purchased her lamb from Ott Club lambs.
Finishing the top five were Linsey Howell, 17, of Danville with her 107-pound crossbred; Hunter Shoemaker, 18, of London with his 107-pound Natural; and Matthew Wallen, 11, of St. Paris with his 91-pound Southdown.
ELLSWORTH, Ohio — At their June meeting, youth leaders of Western Reserve Rangers 4-H club staged mock interviews and displayed posters to prepare the members for upcoming judging events.
Blake Algarin and Amelia and Hannah Shrader acted out the differences between good and bad interview skills, while Ian Hames, Delorean Jones, Blake Algarin and Hannah Shrader shared their posters from small project judging events.
Health leader Richie Hedrick described first aid treatments for nose bleeds. County fashion board member Krista Hornberger reported on the fashion board meeting and the County 4-H Junior Leader Club activities.
The following Rangers were recognized for being elected officers of the Mahoning County 4-H Fashion Board: president, Amanda Majirsky; vice president, Kayla Vega; assistant secretary, Krista Hornberger; treasurer Alex Hames; community service chairperson, Hannah Shrader.
Also serving on the board are Sarah Hernen, Delorean Jones, Elizabeth Marinescu and Gina Roberts.
Casie Stevens and Blake Algarin were selected to attend the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Conference, and Blake was also recognized for being a member of the 2009 Ohio State Fair Band.
Ranger members and advisers will be participating in the Canfield Fourth of July Parade. The club will meet again at 7 p.m. July 9.
MACEDON, N.Y. — The Farm Friends 4-H Club planted a flower garden at the Wayne County (N.Y.) Fairgrounds June 13.
They planted marigolds, straw flowers, tomatoes, and other plants that were donated by Maier’s Mud Acres in Macedon, N.Y.
Visitors can see the garden at the fair Aug. 10-15.
WELLINGTON, Ohio — The Penfield Partners 4-H club met June 17.
A thank you note was read from Penfield Township trustees for helping on pride day.
Animal clinics were held June 13 at the fairgrounds. Amanda and Jessica Duplaga attended a beef clinic.
The club will make a $10 donation to the Lorain County 4-H Fund and a $25 donation to the Lorain County 4-H Endowment.
Members broke into groups and worked on experiments from the club project book and discussed barn decorations for the fair.
The next meeting is July 1 at Kathie’s house. Members will work on club project books.
MINERVA, Ohio — The M-Town Clovers 4-H club met June 6 with 10 members in attendance.
The club finalized plans for its fair booth and gathered information from members for online entry fair registration.
The next meeting will be held from 9 a.m.-noon or 5-8 p.m. July 8 at Buck’s house. Members will prepare for judgings.
JEFFERSON, Ohio — The 4-H Foundation gave five high school graduating seniors scholarships in the amount of $750.
The foundation determines the recipients through an application process where they ask those who apply to be a 4-H member for at least five years. The foundation allows the youth to decide whether to put that money toward tuition, room and board or toward school books.
The recipients of these scholarships were: Cassie Baker from Geneva High School; Braxton Wessell from Geneva High School; Nola Bliss from Geneva High School; Evan Gruskiewicz from Pymatuning Valley High School and Scott Ruck from Ledgemont High School.
The foundation held its first golf outing June 13 at Hickory Grove Golf Course in Jefferson. This was a four man team scramble event.
The 4-H foundation had 18 teams playing and received 25 hole sponsorships. The golf outing ended with a steak dinner provided by Cherry Valley Processing and Josephine’s Restaurant.
