AMITY, Pa. — In 1981, Bill Iams wanted to start his own business. He didn’t have a building to lease or money for fancy advertising, but what he did have was some creativity — and a truck.

So, he rounded up some fence wire and set up shop right in the bed of his truck. The rest, as they say, is history.

Log Cabin Fence, of Amity, Pa., provides fence materials and installation for professionals and do-it-yourselfers alike.
It is a family owned and operated company that started in the back of that pick-up truck in 1981. The business expanded into providing professional fence installation, as well as fencing materials.

“With our growing reputation for providing quality farm and ranch fencing, we began running two full-time crews in order to keep abreast of our increasing workload. Early in 1991, Bill (Iams) became a field instructor with the American Fence Association Field Training School and has continued to do so every year since then,” said Clint Iams.

Century Farm Products is excited to offer the strongest, most durable hoop building on the market: the Advantage Structure.

Made in the United States, this structure features a post fabrication hot dipped galvanized trussed frame — leading the industry in corrosive environment protection.

The 15-year warranty even provides protection in corrosive environments; outperforming/defeating warranties of catalogue supply structures or foreign manufacturers.

All structures feature a trussed bow design, with no inferior single bow options. Post and truss spacing is 10 to 12 foot on center, compared to competing buildings at 14 to 16 foot on center.

Further, Advantage Structures utilize a square tubing bottom truss chord resulting in 36 percent more strength compared to round tubing. This square tubing bottom truss rung results in stronger purlin connections and an anti-racking framework that self centers as it is installed.

The product is available in 30, 40, 50, and 65 foot widths.

As a bonus, receive a free 20 foot flag pole and American flag with any Advantage Structure purchase — for a limited time only.

New division

In 1996, Log Cabin Fence added a new division: installing super structures. This structure has a wide array of uses such as: hay storage, livestock housing, machinery storage, garages, airplane hangers, and anti-skid/salt storage buildings for state and local municipalities.

In 2002, the company began manufacturing a hydraulic post driver — The Log Cabin Pro Driver.
Crews within the company share over 60 years of post-driving experience and have put many post drivers to the test.

“As we were not able to find a driver suitable to a contractor’s needs,” Iams said, “Log Cabin decided to introduce the Log Cabin Pro Driver — the driver that is ‘Proudly built in the USA by fence professionals for fence professionals.’”

In the fall of 2004, the company moved to its new facility: 31,364 square feet of inventory and supplies to better serve customers. It is now located directly off the Marianna exit (No. 23) on Interstate 79, and is within a 50-mile radius of Pittsburgh, Wheeling and Morgantown, W.Va.

Agricultural equipment

In late 2007, Log Cabin Fence added two new product lines: Vermeer agricultural equipment and Nutrena feeds.

“Since 1981, we at Log Cabin Fence have prided ourselves on providing our customers with the highest quality material and service. This excellent service continues through today and as we look into the future. Our outstanding service is matched with the premium products we offer,” Iams said.

“Our 27 years of experience and industry connections allow us to be at the cutting edge of the fence industry. We are continually providing new products to the market in efforts to find the best products for our customers,” he said.
