GNADENHUTTEN, Ohio — Indian Valley FFA is holding its annual strawberry sales.
Prices are roughly $1.50 per pound. Strawberries may be purchased by the half flat for $12 (6 pints) or a full flat for $20 (12 pints). There are approximately 12-14 pounds of strawberries per flat.
Indian Valley FFA students will be earning activity points and commission for their strawberries sales and earning money to help pay for the students to go to FFA camp, Magic Mountain and other FFA activities.
Orders for strawberries will be taken through March 4. Payment is due with orders. The expected delivery date is the week of March 23.

ANDOVER, Ohio — Pymatuning Valley FFA is celebrating National FFA Week Feb. 21-28.
The focus of National FFA Week is to tell America about the great opportunities available for youth in agriculture.
As a part of the week, members are participating in the following special events: Tuesday, hat day; Wednesday, blue and gold; Thursday, redneck, cowgirl, cowboy, camo day and Friday, wear your favorite truck or tractor utility day.
The chapter will also sponsor a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast Friday.
ASHLAND, Ohio — Three members of the Mapleton FFA chapter competed at the sub-district public speaking contest Feb. 11.
Jeremy Rohr presented the FFA Creed and placed fourth.
Christine Ritchie competed in Prepared Speaking with her speech Heroic Hybrids: The Importance of Hybrid Crops Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow and placed third.
Jonni Rohr competed in Extemporaneous Speaking. She was given the topic What is Agri-Science? and placed first.
Jonni Rohr and Ritchie will advance to the district contest March 3.
COLLINS, Ohio — Frank Gannett, the Ohio FFA district two president, visited the Western Reserve FFA chapter Feb. 5.
During his visit Gannett talked about leadership, what it takes to be a leader and discussed who was considered to be a leader to others.
Gannett also attended the freshman’s pizza party for the top sellers of fruit and cheese and talked about his freshman year at Findley College.
MILLERSBURG, Ohio — Members of the West Holmes FFA traveled to the Buckeye Career Center in New Philadelphia to compete in the District 8 Job Interview contests.
Casey Schlauch, Trevor Turner, Kesha Klingler, Linsey Howell and Mac Golemo participated in the contest.
Schlauch placed first in the freshman division and Mac Golemo won the first year junior/senior division to advance to the state contest March 7. Others placing Klingler, sixth in the junior division and Howell, second in the senior division.
Howell has been selected the Star Farmer for District 8.
Six members traveled to Mt. Gilead for a judging invitational Feb. 14. The chapter sent a General Livestock Judging team of Garrett O’Donnell, Ryan Sowers and Martin Overholt; a Nature Interpretation team of Shane Gardner and Corey Phillips and a participant in the Dairy Judging contest, Brandon Bowles.
The General Livestock team placed eighth out of 37 teams; individually Overholt placed fifth out of 145 participants.
The Nature Interpretation team placed sixth out of 13 teams and Gardner placed 10th out of 51 participants.
The chapter held its February regular business meeting and officer elections Feb. 17.
The newly elected officers, who will formally take office at the annual banquet in April, are Tyler Schonauer, president-elect; O’Donnell, vice president-elect, Cynthia Bunch, secretary-elect; Tori Carpenter, treasurer-elect; Kiersten Sigler, reporter-elect, Aaron Clark, historian-elect; Jimmy Henry, sentinel-elect and Jared Zollars, student adviser-elect.
In other business the chapter passed motions to pay, conduct and participate in National FFA Week activities and to add the office of historian to the chapter by-laws.
JEROMESVILLE, Ohio — The Hillsdale FFA chapter placed fourth as a team at the Ohio State University meats judging invitational.
Team members included Heather Heffelfinger (seventh individually), Sara Tallmadge (10th), Kristen Deter (19th) and Mariah Gibbons.
The chapter sent their secretary, treasurer and reporter books to the district evaluation. Kelsey Haas, secretary, placed second in the district and received a gold rating. Cody Raudebaugh, treasurer, placed first in the district and received a gold rating. Michelle Funk, reporter, placed third in the district and also received a gold rating.
These officers will be honored at the Ohio State FFA convention in May.
To celebrate National FFA Week the week of Feb. 22-27, each day the officer team has come up with some activities for the entire student body to participate in.
At lunch each day there will be a cornhole tournament. Monday will be wear your “camo” day, Tuesday will be wear your blue and gold day, Wednesday will be support your favorite tractor day, Thursday will be hat day, and Friday will be dress like a twin day.
