ITHACA, N.Y. — The Small Farms Program will co-sponsor an all day Small Farm Swine Session at this year’s Cornell Swine School from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 28 at Morrison Hall, Cornell University and Cornell Swine Farm.
Morning session
The morning session will feature a presentation by Bill and Kathleen Henning. The Hennings will present on the topics of farm scale, high welfare production, cost-saving considerations, marketing and simplified financial evaluation.
Craig Haney, livestock manager for the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture will also speak.
Alan Hoefling will speak about natural farrowing systems. Hoefling and his brother Bob operate a 200-sow hoop house farrow-to-finish operation.
Space is limited. An early registration fee of $5 is due by March 24 to Cornell University, 128 Morrison Hall, Ithaca, NY 14853. The at-door fee is $15.
